Masonboro Island Environmental Program
Wrightsville Beach and Masonboro Island are natural gems!
For an in-depth introduction to the fascinating and complex ecosystem of Masonboro Island spend a full morning or afternoon (three hours) with the Cape Fear Naturalist as part of the Masonboro Island Environmental Program. Learn to identify the unique shells, plants and birds that can be found on barrier island. Measure water quality in a Tidal Creek and learn how it affects local marine invertebrates. Beach, marsh, creek and maritime forest will each be visited. Led by trained naturalists and experienced educators.
Wrightsville Beach Scenic Tours and the Cape Fear Naturalist offers youth and adult environmental programs on Masonboro Island, one of the largest undisturbed barrier islands on the coast of North Carolina, designed to teach about the diverse ecology of the coastal Carolina.
